Why - Marie Marshall (Poetry)

In this amazing poem, Marie Marshall reveals the pain in being left alone, or discarded.

I was left there

In the corners of your mouth

Glistening in memory

A time most decadent.

You left me

Residual and cold

Cracking under the weight of your smile.

I decided to lay here

Under the impression

You will find me

Or clean me off.
