Susan Neville returns with another flash fiction piece of exactly 100 words, inspired by a recent day out at a safari park.
The rhythmically gentle "tick...tick" of the electric fence soothed me. His pungent smell and throaty purr filled my soul with bliss. Time and again I'd come here, a place where we could be close.
I looked down as he dozed, metres from me.
A glass wall allowing me to watch him- his whiskers twitching, his huge paws padding.
Suddenly he stirred, yawned, stretched and moved away.
The crowds were beginning to arrive.
In a mirrored movement I also changed position.
He turned and our faces reflected together in the glass. I smiled - and felt his breath on my neck.
