There's A Stranger In The House - Belle Robertson (Poetry)

Updated: Sep 20, 2018

In this poem, Belle Robertson weaves a beautiful ode that is equally unsettling and intriguing as she contemplates the supernatural history of her house.

There's a stranger in the house-

In my own home,

I can sometimes hear him breathing,

When I'm all alone.

There's a stranger in my home-

In my own house,

I only see him fleetingly,

And he's as quiet as a mouse.

There's a stranger in the house-

In my own home,

He navigates the rooms with ease,

And the halls he used to roam.

There's a stranger in my home-

In my own house,

I wonder who he left behind,

A sibling, child or spouse?

I love this little house we share,

A place to call our own.

I wonder if he thinks of me

As a stranger in his home.
