Inside - Marie Marshall (Poetry)

Updated: Sep 14, 2018

This poem, by Marie Marshall sets out to explore the process of reminiscing about a past lover, whom you thought could be the one.

Can you see them?

Those thoughts...

That thought.

Chiseling crevices,

The concave circumference of my eyelids,

Swollen and soiled.

I can feel it.

That feeling..

Begins the stream,

The kind of music,

Dampened the seams,

Of my tartan sleeve.

Pooling into the concave of under sternum,

And I remain.

Only to shrink enough,

To step into,

Subcutaneous tissue.

I want to be inside today
